East of Scotland Research Ethics Service (EoSRES)

The East of Scotland Research Ethics Service is aimed at facilitating research and researchers. In 2008, the Research Ethics Service for Scotland was divided into four regions, North, South, East and West.NHS Fife, Forth Valley and Tayside form the East of Scotland and is known as the East of Scotland Research Ethics Service (EoSRES).

As well as providing the administration support for two Research Ethics Committees (RECs), two Sub-committees and two Proportionate Review Committees, the service is heavily involved in providing advice and supporting researchers, novice and experienced in their research career. EoSRES works closely, not only with the NHS but also with the Health Board's partner Universities of Abertay, Dundee, Stirling and St Andrews.

In addition to research studies requiring full ethical review by an NHS REC, EoSRES provides advice on projects which could be deemed as clinical audit, service development, service evaluation, surveillance and usual practice. Our advice is given in a formal letter which aims to satisfy journal editors should  you wish to publish your results at any time in the future.
